Texto Terminology Guide

Important definitions (Lead, Conversation, Query, Inbox, AI Agent, SMS)

Understanding Texto starts with a few key definitions:

Lead

A lead is any person added into Texto through:

  • Zapier

  • CSV upload

A lead must have at minimum:

  • A phone number

  • Optional fields like name or query

Texto uses this information to start the initial conversation automatically.

Query

A query is the message that explains what the lead wants or is looking for.

Examples:

  • “I need a quote for cleaning.”

  • “Do you have this item in stock?”

  • “Can I schedule a consultation?”

The query helps Texto understand context so the AI can respond naturally.

Message

A message is any text sent or received in a conversation:

  • Incoming message from a lead

  • Response from Texto’s AI

Texto communicates only through SMS.

Conversation

A conversation is the full message thread between:

➡ Texto AI

➡ and the lead

A conversation contains:

  • All sent + received SMS messages

  • Lead replies

  • AI responses

  • Appointment discussions (if any)

Conversations appear inside the Inbox, where you can step in manually anytime.

AI Agent

The AI Agent is Texto’s automated SMS responder that:

  • Sends the initial message when a new lead enters

  • Replies to all incoming messages

  • Handles questions and objections

  • Helps leads understand your service/product

  • Books appointments via Google Calendar (if connected)

The AI Agent does not send automated follow-up messages yet if the lead stops replying.

Channel

SMS (only)

Texto currently communicates exclusively through SMS for:

  • AI outbound messages

  • Lead replies

  • Human agent replies

No email, WhatsApp, or other messaging channels are used at this time.

Inbox

The Inbox is where you:

  • View all conversations

  • See lead replies in real time

  • Send manual SMS messages

  • Watch Texto AI handle responses

  • Take over the conversation whenever needed
