How to Upload Leads via CSV

CSV is the simplest way to bring leads into Texto in bulk.

During onboarding, Texto will ask you to connect your leads. You have two options: Zapier or CSV upload.

If you choose CSV, here is the exact process based on the onboarding UI.

Step-by-Step: Uploading a CSV During Onboarding

1. Select “CSV” on the Connect Your Leads screen

You’ll see two options:

  • Zapier (connect 5,000+ apps)

  • CSV (import your data)

Choose CSV to continue.


2. Click to Upload or Drag & Drop Your File

On the next screen, you’ll see the CSV upload box with the message:

“Upload CSV file — CSV or XLSX (max 10MB).”

Click the upload box or drag your file into it.


3. Texto Reads Your File Automatically

After uploading, Texto will:

  • Scan your columns

  • Detect your header names

  • Prepare your data for mapping

No manual formatting is needed beyond the required columns.


4. Click Next to Continue Onboarding

Once the file is uploaded, just click Next to proceed to the next onboarding step.

Texto will finish processing your leads in the background.


📌 Required CSV Columns

Your CSV must contain four simple fields:

Column Name

Description

first_name

Lead's first name

last_name

Lead's last name

phone

Full phone number (with country code)

✔ No extra fields are needed

✔ No email column required

✔ No formatting beyond simple text


⚙️ CSV Formatting Rules (Simple & Clear)

To make sure your file uploads correctly:

  • Save your file as CSV

  • Include clear header names

  • One lead per row

  • Phone numbers must include country code

  • Avoid emojis or unusual symbols in the query column

That’s it — Texto will handle the rest.


Note for New Users

  • CSV upload during onboarding is a one-time setup step.

  • After onboarding is complete, any future CSV uploads must be done from the Leads page → Add Leads button (not from settings).

  • Onboarding must be completed fully before accessing the full dashboard. ​

What Happens After You Upload

Once the file is accepted, Texto will immediately:

  • Start conversations with each lead

  • Show these conversations inside your dashboard after onboarding is complete

This ensures your AI agent is ready and working the moment you finish setup.
